Welcome to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church!
Join us for authentic spirituality, traditional worship, progressive belief
At Holy Spirit Episcopal Church we:
-
practice an authentic form of spirituality com\bining our worship life and service to this community;
-
gather in traditional worship that has its roots in Christian practices dating from the first century; and
-
live our progressive beliefs based on loving our neighbor as they are (not as others think they should be).
You are welcome to join our diverse parish family. Some of us are recovering from addiction. Some are single. Some are married. Some – like our Vicar - are members of the LGBTQA community. What matters to us is gathering to form one body by sharing one bread, one cup, and one mission of serving this community.
Our church building dates from 1905 but our parish formed in 1723 right here overlooking the West Haven Green. Each Sunday we gather for either a Morning Prayer or Holy Communion service in the Sanctuary. We are the Episcopal Church in West Haven.
Worship
Our 9 a.m. Sunday worship services offer an opportunity for spiritual renewal and growth. We who are many become one people because together we say the prayers, sing the songs, and share the stories of our faith. On some Sundays, we celebrate Holy Communion while on others we explore the uniquely Anglican service of Morning Prayer. Every Sunday we sing together, pray together, and hear a sermon.
Feel free to visit - either in person or online at our Facebook page. To join us online for our live cast of Sunday's Service on our Facebook Page please go here ot use the QR code below:
We also build community – and fight loneliness – by offering an array of fellowship programs. Ranging from our growing food to feed hungry people to cooking breakfast for Columbus House to our Book Club and the Retiree’s Brigade that helps clean up our act, these activities help people get to know each other and reduce isolation.
Monthly Eucharist For Recovering People
During the week we host 10 different recovery group meetings in our parish house. We also offer a monthly Eucharist For Recovering People or the 'Fellowship of the Prodigal,' in our Lady Chapel. This service starts at 6 p.m., is completed before 7 p.m., and reflects the 12 steps of recovery used by many AA and NA groups. All are welcome to join us.

Prayer Requests
Sometimes we all could use someone to pray for us. We’re happy to help by praying for you or yours by adding you to our weekly prayer list. Please use our online form or send an email to our church office. We’ll pray for you during four consecutive Sunday worship services. Some of our people will also add you to their prayers. Please let Fr. Tom know if you want to be in our prayers for more than four weeks.
Please help us keep the lights on and our space open for community use
We also accept gifts of cash and personal or bank checks. You may designate your gift to support any of our ministries. Please note on the “Memo” area of the check and we will allocate your gift to support that effort. If you are paying a pledge by check, please be sure to include your pledge number.
